Griffin and Eco Fashion Label Prophetik Create Sustainable Tech FashionSep 17, 2010

Nashville, TN/London, UK — September 17, 2010 — Griffin Technology Inc., maker of ingenious ways to power, play, protect, and connect, today announced a partnership with Prophetik, a sustainable fashion design house founded by Tennessee-bred designer Jeff Garner. The Griffin + Prophetik Co-Op Initiative features hand-made accessories for iPhone that focus on quality, sustainability, and timeless style. Garner’s work, which has been recognized internationally for incorporating environmental sustainability into its designs, was featured today at Prophetik’s London Fashion Week catwalk show, along with the first Griffin + Prophetik piece: Folio for iPhone.

“Because Griffin is a Nashville-based company, we’re in close proximity to some very creative and talented artists,” said Mark Rowan, President of Griffin Technology. “Prophetik is a strong and unique vision in our local community, as well as around the world, and a perfect partner for Griffin.”

“Technology is the future, as is sustainability, so being able to use the medium of fashion design through a unique, hand-made accessory perfectly fuses the way consumers and industry should be forward thinking. Griffin is the ideal platform for spreading the message, and Prophetik is thrilled with the outcome,” adds Prophetik’s Jeff Garner.

Griffin + Prophetik is a new Co-Op Initiative driven by the philosophy of permanence in a time of change; quality in a time of quantity. Design guided by history in an environment driven by what’s next — of reuse and repurposing in an economy driven by consumption.

Griffin + Prophetik explores how these seemingly disparate concepts inform each other in the design of cases for iPhone. International design studio Prophetik creates fashion and accessories that balance the desire for the new with designs steeped in history, hand-made with thoughtful stewardship of the Earth’s resources. Together, Griffin and Prophetik are exploring ways to create goods for iPhone that redefine what tech accessories can be through innovative uses of renewable materials, processes, and manufacturing practices.

The first piece in the Griffin + Prophetik collection is Folio for iPhone. This bifold wallet design begins with a cut of reclaimed leather, taken as byproduct from existing manufacturing processes and upcycled for use in this case. Each piece is hand-stitched in Nashville to accommodate iPhone in a clever, simple, secure design. Separate internal compartments are perfect for cash, credit cards, and business cards. Hand-cut openings accommodate the camera lens and dock connector. Like all premium leather, Folio for iPhone is built to soften naturally and wear beautifully over time, ensuring it as a fashionable tech statement that lasts.

The Griffin + Prophetik Folio for iPhone is available in brown leather with red stitching, and black leather with blue stitching. For more information, visit

About Prophetik
Prophetik is an eight-year-old, all-sustainable fashion lifestyle brand, designed by Jeff Garner from Franklin, Tennessee. Employing recycled bottles transformed into Greenspun fleece, herringbone hemp, peace silk, elephant-painted hemp jersey, and antique buttons, Jeff injects style and soul into a unisex line of form and function. Stocked in over 40 high-end boutiques including Fred Segal and Patricia Field in America; Eco Age in London; and in Japan and Switzerland, Prophetik is a press favorite and Jeff is a prominent voice in the ethical fashion arena, regularly dressing the likes of Sherly Crow, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, and the Jonas Brothers.

Inspired by Botticelli’s Venus for the spring/summer 2011 season, the collection, entitled Midnight Garden, provokes mystery and innocence, blending plant and earth-dyed natural fabrics to create beautiful flowing ball gowns, bloomers, tailored waistcoats, and silk neckties. Prophetik once again opened the shows at Vauxhall Fashion Scout on the 17th of September 2010.
